I believe I understand how you say it feels paradoxical. Admittedly, it feels the same when I stated it at first: how do we include, by inviting exclusion?

Through my own experience, it does, among other ways, through empathetic and systematic community building. People that aren't marginalized in certain ways likely aren’t exposed to the day-to-day ways their world is easier because of that non-marginalized identity. When people connect; for instance, by explaining what they go through, day by day, through their own personal stories, they reveal to those in power why their experience matters, is useful, and deserve decision-making power.

It is human to make tribes; but it is also human to connect. We must use the second to counteract the first.
